About Carrie Pearson

Short bio:

Carrie Pearson is an author and speaker from Marquette, Michigan. She lives with her husband on the sandy shore of Lake Superior and blows daily kisses to her three daughters, who live on their own now, either below the Bridge (no, they aren’t trolls; it’s the mighty Mackinac Bridge) or 2.24 miles away.

As a child, Carrie read voraciously. As an early childhood educator, Carrie experienced how books delighted, healed, and enlightened young people. As a mother, she used story to strengthen family bonds. Today, Carrie writes books that expand our world and bring us closer to it.

Carrie is represented by Kelly Sonnack of Andrea Brown Literary.

Longer bio:

Carrie A. Pearson is the author of five books on the shelf and more, either not yet announced or in process. When she isn’t researching, writing, and scheming new book ideas, she is helping to build an inclusive community of creators through her volunteer roles for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), including as a former co-Regional Advisor for Michigan (2013-2023), Regional Advisor Emerita (currently) and on the Impact & Legacy Fund Steering Committee (2021-present). Carrie was honored to receive the Gwen Frostic Award given by the Michigan Reading Association for her contribution to literacy development.

Today Carrie is a full-time word wrangler, but it wasn’t always this way. Her former jobs included lots of babysitting (especially for her two much younger sisters whom she now adores), cook/cleaner/greenskeeper at her family’s golf course, Hallmark/drug store clerk, untrained barber, waitress/hostess, preschool teacher (after completing her BA in early childhood education from the University of Michigan), center director at the University of Michigan charter preschool, business plan writer and development director for a boutique investment banking firm, associate director of development for the University of Rochester Department of Pediatrics and Strong Memorial Hospital, and development officer for Marquette General Hospital. In addition to being an author, Carrie owns a consulting business, Children’s Book Connections, to help children’s book writers prepare for and find their agent match.

As a volunteer, Carrie helped create a community playground, led the Ski Cats learn-to-love-skiing program for children, and mentored middle and high schoolers as they allocated grant funding to worthy groups through the Community Foundation of Marquette County.

Carrie enjoys connecting with nature in the woods, playing on the water, painting, and having a rollicking meal around the table with family and friends.

Carrie believes in the power of story. Her mission is to create good books, help others do so, and get those books into the hands of readers.
